@jws Yeah, that’s much nicer. I still don’t like it quite as much, but maybe I’m biased against the unfamiliar. I wonder how many people can read and write in the Shavian alphabet…

@jws My attempt at designing a new alphabet was just a dabble. It certainly wasn’t complete. It was not an attempt to be rational like Shaw. It was just about being ergonomically sleek. I think it looked a bit like Gregg shorthand. There were no symbols for words or phrases; it was merely letter for letter.
Having seen Shavian beside Roman, I don’t like looking at the new one very much. I think the Roman is more pleasing to the eye. Shavian looks coldly rational. The Roman looks more human, with all that that implies. If Shavian had been around in the 1790s it would have been perfect for inscribing on temples of reason…with a little modification for French.

@joeo10 This is why the internet scares me so much. Using it shouldn’t be like doing prostitution without condoms in the late eighties. I don’t expect zero danger, but I don’t want Russian roulette either. I sometimes think we need a government regulator ensuring basic internet safety. But I suppose that would probably end up with HELLO BACKDOOR.
@streakmachine I was just thinking yesterday that this lockdown over here might afford some over-worked people a much needed rest. So long as they’re given a leave of absence on 80% pay…
