@joeo10 What do techies and geeks use for messaging these days? I noticed on the Librewolf site they were using Lemmy and Matrix for support and discussion.
Some days my parents seem very old. Other days they seem quite strong and lively.
@coopey This one I’m looking at is similar to the screens you used to get on traditional car sat navs. Not quite as bad as them but nearly.
// @matigo
@matigo It's not just resolution though. The screen has a weird, rough, grainy, plasticky appearance. When you're quite close you can see a myriad of tiny, multi-coloured speckles. On Macs it's like crystal clear glass even at low res.
On resolution: even my 16 incher comes set up at 1728x1117. I normally use it at 2056x1329 for a bit more luxuriousness without hammering the battery too much. On occasion, I'll put it to its maximum 3456x2234 (slightly less than 4K) to watch a 4K vid. But who is gonna use a laptop day-to-day at 4K? The desktop is another matter.
@hazardwarning Going from the the 16" MacBook Pro to this is a gigantic come down, but even compared to a non-retina mac laptop of similar size it shames itself.
// @matigo
@matigo Is it the 1920x1080 version? The 3K version would presumably be better.
@matigo I had one once before, the T400 I think. It was a bit heavy and clunky. This one (T480s) is more modern, light and tidy. Don't like it's screen though; it has a grainy plastic look. Seems like a very cheap display.
