How do you measure general competence?
I feel sorry for the old man next door. His wife died a few weeks ago and now it’s Christmas.
@matigo Well it has its pros and cons doesn’t it? As I use Macchiato I can’t complain about a change to the social site too much. I can’t think of a massive, obvious reason for a move being a bad idea but I’m wary of change. Smallish communities feel nice and cozy. Too small though and they feel desolate. If you made the move and we started using Mastodon apps, I wonder how it would feel. Would it still feel unique and somewhat independent or would it sink into the Mastodon universe and lose its sense of place? Hard to know without trying it. One of the nice things about ADN even when it had tens of thousands of accounts was knowing that it wasn't Twitter and wasn't Facebook. Mastodon isn’t those either so that’s a pro.
@matigo I haven’t used Mastodon but looking in from the outside, it looks like it’s had a charisma bypass. And I suspect it doesn’t have the simplicity that I’m so fond of in apps and sites either. It looks like the Vauxhall/Opel of social networks…which would make it hard to get enthused about. But if no one comes to Cappuccino then the question is moot isn’t it? And I can certainly see several reasons why the move would appeal to you. I assume I’d have to make a Mastodon account and this URL would have a very different look and feel…
@hazardwarning No heating? Open window? Are you the Ice Queen?
