While walking beside the water I noticed this weird complex of tree roots. I think it looks a bit creepy. I have this notion that I should go back there at night some time and take a really creepy photo of it.
Walking back to the car holding my camera, I felt like my fingers were close to the frostbite stage. I was also trying to quickly get some photos done before it got too dark, so I just put the camera in 'intelligent Auto+' mode. It tends to work quite well. I should use it more often. This one below was taken with that mode.
Just before I got back to the car I snapped the ice-cream van. They’re triers aren't they? He switched his lights off as I was trying different exposures. Getting the illuminated lettering on his van without blacking everything else out was hard. With hindsight, I should have used one of my camera's special modes that are designed to deal with such scenes.
