My idea is that the brilliant white background is a bit too stark in the Light theme. Slightly off white might be nicer. Across the colour wheel from that shade of blue-violet is yellow-orange, so that might look complementary. A yellow-orange background would probably have to be very washed-out though because it's a light theme after all. These kinds of aesthetic theories are always suck it and see though eh?
