Given that some local papers cover national news it’s not a bad plan. The remaining problem though is the news agencies. I remember someone talking about working for one of the big news agencies in London, not Reuters, the other one, Associated something… Anyway, there was a whole floor dedicated to the Middle East. There was more space given to that region than to most other whole continents…and it was all paid for by Saudi Arabia. These are the very few institutions that feed basic news information to numerous outlets all over the World. They are information tollbooths.
