My brother used to rave about this system he had. He’d install Windows, then install all the programmes and drivers and updates he needed and get the settings just how he wanted them. Then he’d make a bootable backup with Norton Ghost or some similar programme. Any time his system went funny he’d just re-install from the ‘perfect’ backup. Of course you still need a routine for backing up your files as well.

Desktops are so much more flexible and updatable than laptops. But I suppose a Windows gaming laptop is more updatable than a MacBook…do any of them have replaceable graphics cards?

I installed Windows 95 from floppy disks. It was exhausting, swapping so many disks in and out. Some disks had to be reinserted several times and each disk read was like watching paint dry.

Early onset…

Portable telly. The plant-based packaging was slightly damp and whiffy. Probably been stored in a shed or warehouse. I have bought some second-hand jeans recently because if I can’t try them on in a shop and make sure they’re perfect, then they better be el cheapo.

I don’t like that musty smell that you sometimes get with second-hand purchases.

Is yer mood better now?

I wonder what their motivation was for that change.

Good stories. I merely come from tenant farmers and coal miners…although that can be interesting in a way.

Great response.
