Hahaha, a young woman on breakfast telly just now said that she did something on a quim. Then she said ‘is it quim or whim? Whim! Yes, I did [……] on a whim.’ Then she looked at the other chef and said ‘what’s a quim?’ He smoothly changed the subject. She said it all with a straight face. Genuinely didn’t understand what she was saying.

A few minutes later the other chef looked at the camera and said ‘to those of you in TVland, don’t worry, I’ll explain it to her later, off-camera.’ Mind you, I don’t know if this is funny outside of Blighty.

Did the pet shop not have any brightly coloured ones?

'Parce mihi Dominus' is beautiful. I'm used to hearing the saxophone in jazz and it sounds a certain way—smoky, for want of a better word. So I didn't realise it could sound so delicate.

Can anyone suggest some mellow songs/tracks to add to my 'Mellow' playlist? Because it's a bit anaemic with only seventeen tracks. I'm completely agnostic about the type of music as long as it has a mellow atmosphere.

It's interesting that emotions are conceptualised as a blandly generic-looking small child….

Different can be exciting.

I avoid television news, newspapers, Facebook, Twitter etc. because they are weapons meant to harm me but I read tons of websites and sometimes books. I'm not being assaulted by information weapons as much now which helps my sanity but there is plenty that's still disturbing. Some people switch off much more than me and just busy themselves with their hobbies. They might be saner than me.

I didn't know Mikhail Gorbachev had died. This is what happens when you don't watch/read the news.
