@matigo It’s not just you. I think you summed it up well. Everyone is narcissistic every day to some extent. We just try to not go too far. Building a society around massaging our egos is not clever though.
@hazardwarning Young people are always going to explore and seek excitement. That’s what they do. But in the modern World, the exploring and excitement becomes more expansive. Maybe a well ordered society would encourage young people to have adventures because it’s good for them, but encourage them to come home after a while.
@jussipekonen How have you found going on holiday by ferry? Is it bureaucratic and full of hassles, or is it pretty straightforward? Would you recommend it? I’ve only been on a thirty minute ferry to France, so there wasn’t time to relax. A longer ferry trip would allow you to arrive chilled-out I imagine.

There was an astute psychologist on YouTube who said there are just three ways in which a society can orientate itself. I forget what the other two were, but he said the one we have moved into recently is the narcissistic society. I do remember that he made all three modes sound bad. In fact, he made all three sound faintly psycopathic, as if humans are not capable of making a nice society; that any society we make will always be based on some loony’s mental obsessions.
Everything connected with abortion these days is narcissism. The sex education, the lover searching, the selection methods, the going out protocols, the bonking, the sexual assaults, the anti-sexual assault campaigns, the contraception, the marrying, the procreating, the foetus aborting, the family make up, the dumping, the alimony. It’s all done with narcissism.
