It’s mainly the transplanting of American English that bothers me. I don’t blame Americans (much). It’s their tongue and they’re welcome to it. But my compatriots seem to spend half their lives watching Netflix, and they soak it all up sponge-like. There’s nowt to be done about it though. It’s a tidal wave. It can’t be stopped, so I have to accept it. If I moaned about every annoyance of that kind I’d be whinging continually, so I filter out ninety-five percent of it.

The mini summer was lovely but it’s over now. Back to dreich.

If I shot every British person who pronounced the word 'privacy' the American way, there would only be about ten million people left in this country. So I just have to accept it. But I can still give them a contemptuous look.

Make the default never.

So if you’re 58 you may as well have a sky dive (7 micromorts).

Being 58 = 7000 micromorts.

Being eighteen years old = 500 micromorts (over the next 12 months).
