I suppose developers mainly make software for themselves. If it’s their income…how they pay the mortgage, they’ll do what people want. If it’s a personal hobby with little or no income, they’ll create what they desire. They will still quite often add features others ask for (Jason is good in that respect, and Jeremy too if he can find the time) but it’s still their personal project(s) and features are added within their own preferred overall parameters. That’s how it seems to me. I didn’t get it in my early days on computers, then someone pointed it out to me.
