It’s one of those days where there are lots of things to think about but nothing very graspable or applicable. Today I learned that owners of large country houses in England used to change their curtains for heavier ones when each winter approached. Yesterday, I saw a summer travelogue from South West England and thought to myself that I must get to the seaside this year. The last time I saw the sea must have been 2007 (Goth Town). The last time I dipped my toes in the sea must have been 2006 (Virginia Woolf's childhood beach). The last time I swam in the sea…several decades ago. In fact, so long ago that I can’t specifically remember where or when, just a vague memory of smelly, sloppy saltiness.
@matigo Why do you back up to optical media (spit)? Are they archival quality discs?
@joeo10 I wonder if cell tower triangulation would be accurate enough to make you a suspect of something you didn’t do.
@joeo10 Turning that around the other way though…you could potentially use such data to prove you weren’t at a given crime scene at a given time.
@peemee The drying is extremely important in getting rid of germs. I saw a lab test on telly once, and providing there was no oil or grease, washing with cold water was as effective as with hot. But poor drying left colonies in the corners. I suppose the advantage of gel is that you can put dispensers everywhere…and in theory, hand washing frequency goes up.
