@matigo There’s an old nineteen-fifties film where someone is given a TV and likes it at first but it spoils his marriage so he gives it to someone else. That person like at first as well, until the TV habit ruins his life. The same set is passed from person to person, always ruining the lives of the owners. The film is called 'Meet Mr. Lucifer'.
