Mmm, been getting a lot of annoying heat issues with the iPhone lately. The back has been getting rather hot. Several times a day, it’ll get annoyingly hot despite me not doing anything demanding. My usual reaction is to turn off wi-fi and turn on low power mode. That remedies the heat.
Looking at Battery in settings, 'Notes' has used 46% of the battery in the last ten days despite five other apps being used for longer, several of them far longer. It specifies Widget and Background Activity (16m on screen, 1hr 30m background). Next time things flare up I will toggle wi-fi and low power mode individually to try and narrow down the cause (low power mode turns off background activity I think). I can always stop using the widget but I might not be able to do much about 'Notes' background activity because I’ve already eschewed iCloud for it. What background activity could it be doing when all notes are stored on device?
